A musical treat

A musical highlight in an unusual location

The Karajan Academy plays at the BRLO BRWHOUSE. The fusion of classical music and modern architecture is already providing an indication of the future diversity of the Urbane Mitte.

Brewhouse and orchestra are words that are seldom mentioned in the same sentence, making the scene that greeted the 100 invited guests all the more impressive as they entered the BRLO BRWHOUSE craft beer brewery on 29 June 2017. The pioneering use of the container building, designed by the architecture firm GRAFT, has been enlivening the Urbane Mitte since October 2016, even before the first groundbreaking ceremony. However, a classical concert had not previously been performed here.

It was a wonderful evening, full of melodious harmonies for the mind and senses. We really enjoyed enriching this unique location in Berlin with chamber music.

Peter Riegelbauer, Managing Director of the Karajan Academy

The student academy of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, named after Herbert von Karajan, came on the invitation of COPRO and provided a musical treat for the 100 guests with classical works from Schubert, Debussy, Ravel and Weill.

The guests were delighted with the musical performance.

Members of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra teach the highly talented young musicians at the academy and prepare them for a career as orchestra musicians.

In 2016, COPRO successfully bid for the private concert at an auction gala held by the VKBI (an association for Berlin businesspeople and industrialists). The proceeds from the gala will help to fund the VKBI’s citizen education network and the Karajan Academy.

Just like on this particular evening, COPRO is passionately committed to supporting cultural and artistic projects. The promotion of art and culture will also play an important role when it comes to the Urbane Mitte city quarter.
